Why PlasticBurners Adflo & Miller Battery Adapters Are Built Better

Why PlasticBurners Battery Adapters Are Built Better

A battery adapter is only as good as its connections, construction and electrical design. That’s where PlasticBurners stands apart.

Our adapters are purpose-built for compatible Speedglas® Adflo® and Miller® PAPR II / Vortex HDV systems. We use moulded battery connections, brass threaded inserts and replaceable components, backed by six months of mine-site field testing before release.

These are deliberate engineering choices. They make a difference to how an adapter connects, holds together and can be maintained throughout its working life.

Purpose-Built Battery Connections

The battery connection is a critical part of an adapter. It needs to hold the contacts in position and maintain a dependable connection during use.

PlasticBurners uses moulded battery connections designed for the battery interface. The moulded structure supports and positions the contacts, rather than relying on individual terminals to provide the complete connection.

Some competing adapters use automotive-style terminals in place of a purpose-built battery connector. A terminal designed for an automotive wiring connection is not automatically suitable for the contact geometry, support and repeated insertion required by a tool battery interface.

Poorly supported or incorrectly fitted contacts can loosen, wear or develop increased electrical resistance. That can lead to intermittent power and localised heating.

Our approach starts with a connection designed for the job.

Brass Threaded Inserts: Built to Be Opened and Serviced

PlasticBurners adapters use brass threaded inserts, giving the housing screws a metal thread to engage with.

This matters when a unit needs inspection, repair or replacement components. Brass inserts allow repeated disassembly and reassembly without relying on a screw cutting its thread directly into the plastic.

Screws driven directly into plastic can wear or strip their mounting points through repeated servicing or overtightening. Glued housings can make access difficult and may require damage to open.

Our construction supports:

  • Secure housing assembly.

  • Repeatable access for servicing.

  • Reduced wear on plastic screw holes.

  • Replacement of internal components while retaining a serviceable housing.

An adapter should be built to work—and built so it can be worked on.

Six Months of Mine-Site Field Testing Before Release

A successful bench test is a starting point. It does not tell the whole story of how a product performs at work.

Every PlasticBurners adapter design undergoes six months of field testing on mine sites before release.

That gives us time to assess the design through repeated working use, battery changes, handling and the practical demands of a mine-site environment.

This testing is part of our development process. We use it to identify weaknesses and refine the design before it reaches customers.

For clarity, this is testing of each adapter design before release; it does not mean every individual unit sold has spent six months on a mine site.

Electrical Design That Goes Beyond Making It Fit

Connecting a tool battery to a blower requires more than matching the physical shape.

PlasticBurners uses electrical designs tailored to the intended battery and blower combination. Depending on the model, features include regulated power delivery, low-voltage cutoff and additional output protection.

Our Adflo adapters use a three-pin interface with a sprung connection. Our electronics boards are conformally coated to provide an additional barrier against moisture and contamination.

Selected Premium adapters include low-voltage cutoff circuitry to help protect the connected tool battery from excessive discharge. Protection features vary by model, so the individual product specification remains the guide to what is included.

The Ultimate Milwaukee® M18 → Adflo® adapter adds output protection circuit & charger blocking for the dedicated Speedglas® task light port.

These features address practical electrical and usability requirements—not just whether a battery will slide into place.

Repairable by Design

PlasticBurners adapters are built with replaceable components and factory repowering in mind.

A failed internal component should not automatically mean throwing away the entire adapter. Where the housing remains serviceable, repair or repowering can return a suitable unit to use.

That is a meaningful advantage over a sealed, glued assembly that cannot be opened without damage.

We back our adapters with a six-month warranty, with post-warranty repairs available. Customers can contact the business that developed and built the product for assessment and support.

Compare the Construction Before You Buy

What to check PlasticBurners approach Why it matters
Battery connection Purpose-built moulded battery connections Supports and positions the contacts for the intended interface
Housing fasteners Brass threaded inserts Allows servicing without destroying the housing
Access for repairs Housing designed for disassembly Makes inspection and component replacement practical
Product development Six months of mine-site field testing before release Assesses the design through sustained working use
Internal components Replaceable components and factory repowering Supports repair instead of automatic disposal
Electrical protection Features specified for each model Lets you choose protection appropriate to your setup
Ongoing support Six-month warranty and post-warranty repairs Provides a route for assistance throughout the adapter’s working life

Why Choose PlasticBurners?

Choose PlasticBurners because the details that matter are built into the product: purpose-built connections, serviceable construction, considered electrical design and sustained field testing.

We believe those choices make PlasticBurners the best choice for welders who value build quality, repairability and ongoing support.

When comparing adapters, look beyond the outer shape and price. Ask how the battery contacts are supported, how the housing is assembled, what protection is included and whether the unit can be repaired.

Those are questions we are proud to answer.
